Publishnow is a web-based system that manages the publications, their schedules and rate cards. Template management allows building a large library of stock templates coupled with stock images.
Administration and user management
Publishnow Administration manages users, groups, roles and their access control. Each group of users can have their own set of templates thereby allowing Publishnow to be a multi-tenant system with different advertiser clients having their own branded portal, the templates and access.
Display ROP, Display Composite, Classified Display and Lineage templates can be built in with all typography and image replacement rules. The upload process, template search metadata, expiration and activation of the templates are controlled by Administration.
The other functions managed by Publishnow Administration include composite grid management, variable tags, and linkage to DAM system to specify the DAM folders associated with the template. Step Builder is a unique feature of Publishnow Administration to integrate external sources of data to the template customization process.
There is a provision in the system to handle trade advertisers with their own set of templates and special pricing. Regular advertisers, called transient users can self-register and use the system to build, proof, order and pay for their advertisements.
Publication Management
A newspaper group can manage publication data for hundreds of publications. The data set for the publication can include title, circulation, publishing regions, ad categories, price list, multi insertion and package discounts.
Production data for each title managed includes mechanical sizes, print stock and associated ICC profiles, deadlines and other print specifications.
Central asset and user management
Access control and permissions to perform tasks is a key to the workflow engine. Users are organized in groups and have roles assigned. The group controls access to content – image folders, image meta, template search meta, jobs archive and archive assets. Roles manage permissions for building the document, proofing, approvals, orders and delivery.
Publishnow is interfaced with an extensive DAM system. Sets of images can be associated with the template allowing the user to pick them only from pre-approved and processed light box. The Publishnow DAM incorporates a Lucene-based indexing engine with a powerful search interface. A unique feature of the DAM option is to provide low-resolution ‘For Position only (FPO)’ images for building the document and replacing the FPO with high-resolution variants at the time of delivery.
Approvals, order, payments and delivery management
Trade advertisers can use the system to handle all approvals needed – self or external. Payment can be handled by credit cards or on customer account.
Transient users can use the e-commerce engine built in the system to handle the payments.
